About the Society

The Areopagitica Society, established in 2019, promotes creative writing and learning among students through activities and events within the college. Since its reorganization in 2023, the society has been committed to providing a platform for students to develop and showcase their writing skills.

Vision: Empowering students to be more capable, more knowing, and more eager by helping them discover their hidden potential and providing a platform to showcase it without language barriers. Over the past year, the society has successfully organized multiple events fostering creativity, awareness, and engagement within the literary and social spheres.

Structure and Functions

Areopagitica follows a well-maintained hierarchy consisting of a core team including:

• President: Head of the society and responsible for overall functioning.
• Vice President: Supports and assists the President as second-in-command.
• General Secretary: Ensures smooth day-to-day operations of the society.
• Coordinator: Maintains team harmony and effective coordination.

The team is further divided into two departments — Content and Management:

Content Department: The heart of the society, focusing on writing and creative expression.
Management Department: Handles public relations, designing, and logistics.

Areopagitica functions as a learning system for writers by conducting sessions in Hindi, English, and occasionally Urdu or other languages as per members’ preferences. It provides platforms for performance and exposure by connecting with colleges across Delhi University and other literary and storytelling platforms. Workshops with professional writers are also organized to offer valuable insights into the craft.

Events and Initiatives

Areopagitica organizes a series of events throughout the year, which form the core of its activities.

Lehza: The flagship event of Areopagitica, featuring multiple competitions and poetry performances by renowned artists — such as Rakesh Tiwari — held in collaboration with major poetry and publication platforms. Lehza uses poetry as a voice for change, emphasizing that writing extends beyond self-expression to social impact.

Stain: Blackout Poetry
Literary Lounge: Creative Writing

Author Sessions & Workshops: The society regularly organizes author sessions and writing workshops with professional writers and publishers. Previously, Areopagitica hosted Dr. Suchi Batra (US-based writer) and collaborated with Blue Star Publication for a professional workshop.

Notable Achievements

• Collaboration with The Social House — the largest poetry platform in Delhi — along with international NGOs Viva Con Agua and Welt Hunger Life.
• Collaboration with Blue Star Publication during Lehza’25 to provide a professional view of the publishing industry and internship opportunities.
• Lafz - Jinki aawaz Nahi Hoti.. — a published work by alumna Sonam Kumari.
• Jung-E-Zindgi... and Ashru — works by alumnus Satyaprakash.
• Aryan Gupta contributed his literary work in the book The Serenity of a Silent Night.
• Members of Areopagitica have won multiple inter-college competitions, including Ayush Kumar securing first place in the Spandan Writing Competition at SRCC.
